National Consensus on School Health Education

Led by the听,听听national health education honorary society,听,听,听, and听, the National Consensus on School Health Education is pleased to share the progress of its nationwide effort to develop resources for educators interested in quality school health education as a component of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model.

 

Partnerships

Shine Light on Depression
Shine Light on Depression brings together diverse organizations to amplify the conversation around teen depression and suicide. Collaborating organizations: American School Health Association, Anthem, Inc., Erika鈥檚 Lighthouse, JetBlue Airways Corporation, and the National PTA. Visit the Shine Light on Depression website. Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information
develops and increases access to simple, clear, and actionable educational resources, trainings, and technical assistance for consumers and their families, as well as individuals at the front lines of care. In addition, COE PHI develops resources for state agencies and communities who need to know how to promote patient care while protecting confidentiality. COE PHI is driven by four main aims including: increasing access to expert training, increasing access to individualized technical assistance, increasing access to high-quality resources, and strengthening healthcare provider systems.
EPA鈥檚 3Ts 鈥 Training, Testing, and Taking Action
As a dissemination partner, 澳门开奖 provides EPA鈥檚 guidance and recommendations to prepare schools, child care facilities, and states to build a voluntary implementation program to reduce lead levels in drinking water. All 50 states are participating in the WIIN 2107 Lead Testing School and Child Care Program Drinking Water State Grant Program. Health services Assessment Tool for Schools (HATS) Working Group
澳门开奖 is a proud member of the working group convened by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to revise the Health services Assessment Tool for Schools (HATS). The Academy developed the HATS over a decade ago to help school districts across the country improve their school health services through examination of health service quality and comprehensiveness, infrastructure, and policies/protocols. The HATS has been used by school districts across the US to identify gaps and strengths and enhance provision of school health services, but much has changed over the past ten years! Funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides an opportunity for the AAP to engage in a thoughtful and timely review and expansion of the HATS to ensure availability of tools that address the needs and issues most salient to school health and student needs today and going forward.

National Academy of Health and Physical Literacy (NAHPL)
澳门开奖 partners with NAHPL to grow and advance professional leaders who will promote health and physical literacy among K-12 students. 澳门开奖 and NAHPL coordinate to provide resources and professional development to constituents of each organization.

SOPHE鈥橲 School Employee Wellness (SEW) Advisory Committee
A CDC Healthy Schools project focused on integrating school employee wellness within a district or school鈥檚 policies, systems, and infrastructure to address social determinants of health, health equity, social and emotional stress/learning (SEL), and risk factors that contribute to chronic disease.
School Health Action Congress
The American School Health Association (澳门开奖) and The Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education (The Society) are proud to host the invitation-only School Health Action Congress. This听Congress听is a convening of state-level leaders around the most pressing needs of students听and schools.听Goals听of the School Health Action Congress听include:听(1)听better connecting of state-level leaders, (2) providing opportunities to learn from each other,听(3) supporting efforts to build strong institutions that prioritize student health and wellbeing, and (4)听activating听state-level听decision-makers听to advocate for the health of students.

Coalition Involvement

Student Health Advocacy Coalition
澳门开奖 actively participates as a steering committee member of the Student Health Advocacy Coalition (SHAC). SHAC is a coalition of over 35 national organizations that are focused on health and/or education, and improving the health and well-being of all PreK-12 students. Members of SHAC meet frequently in Washington, DC for coalition meetings, Congressional member and staff meetings, and occasionally host Congressional briefings on Capitol Hill.
National Coordinating Committee on School Health and Safety
澳门开奖 has joined the to collaborate with other organizations in order to better improve the health and safety of all students. NCCSHS brings together federal agencies and national organizations to support programs in our nation鈥檚 schools that promote health, safety and academically successful students. Since its formation in 1994, NCCSHS has grown to include five federal agencies, the Environmental protection Agency, and roughly 63 national organizations working to improve students ability to achieve in school.
The Coalition of National Health Education Organizations (CNHEO)
is a federation of national organizations, each of which is a professional organization or has an organizationally distinct health education unit having principal membership and/or constitutents who are professional health education specalists, and has health promotion/health education as a key element of its mission statement.
